Seven Forms Of BPM

My article Seven Forms Of BPM with JBoss jBPM just got published on dzone. In this article, I explain 7 distinct concrete forms of BPM. Some are more business oriented and some are more technical oriented. BPM is a hugely overloaded term, resulting in a lot of confusion. Hopefully this article helps to clear out at least some of the confusion.

If you don't like clicking your way through the pages, consider the printer friendly format of the article.

  1. Hi Tom,

    Nice article!

I'm curious, is the BPEL implementation on top of PVM already available? Does it cover both modelling styles?

    Thanks,
    Tammo

  2. Our BPEL 1.1 GA implementation is available here: http://sourceforge.net/project/downloading.php?groupname=jbpm&filename=jbpm-bpel-1.1.GA.zip

BPEL 1.1 is based on jBPM 3. It's not the PVM, but all the PVM concepts are already in jBPM 3.

BPEL is only appropriate for service orchestration.

Bull already started with a BPEL 2.0 implementation on top of the PVM: http://orchestra.objectweb.org

  4. Cactus Thinking,

For me that is great. As long as you put in a prominent link to the original.

    I'll double check with DZone.
